About Jane
Jane Ellison has been in and around the Vancouver dance community since 1975. Her practice and research have developed through various somatic modalities, teaching, and listening to music.
Jane’s classes are dedicated to uncovering ease, well-being, freedom, and joy.
For 19 years she was on faculty in the Langara College Theatre department, Studio 58, and for twice that long has taught movement classes at EDAM studio.
An early member of the Western Front artist-run centre, she has been present for much of its art production and presentation since the early 70’s.
Underlying her work is an applied philosophy rooted in Buddhadharma. She has been meditating since 1984, mostly in the Theravedan tradition. This practice is gently embedded in her teaching, manifesting as embodied instruction based on mindfulness and compassion. Jane’s classes are dedicated to uncovering ease, well-being, freedom, and joy.
